Most of the colored surface you see is made with promarkers. I only use ordinary colored pencils as line art and as a second layer on top of the markers to get more texture on clothes and smoother transitions for shadowed areas.

Don`t beat yourself up too hard. Personally I think that the characters with the simplest looking designs are actually harder to draw than the more detailed ones. Probably because the few lines needed to create the character has to be exactly in the right spot for it not to look weird and you also get fewer guidelines on where to put them.
Not entirely sure actually. I tend to multitask when I draw. I remember watching Bambi and Epic and listening to music for a while when working on Cream, so I`d say about 4 distracted hours plus half an hour on cheese
